Misal Pav Recipe/ Dry peas curry with bread

Misal pav is a famous Maharastrian recipe that is very spicy and usually eaten in breakfast. It is a traditional dry peas curry served with pav,thick sev and onions. Since its too heavy I prefer to have it in my dinner. Let's cook some Misal pav.

Misal Pav:
Ingredients:
Soak 2 cups of white peas overnight
1 onion finely chopped
1 tomato finely chopped
1 tbsp oil
Salt to taste
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
2-3 Red whole chili
1 tsp methi and dhaniya seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
½ tsp mustard seeds
Pinch of asafoetida
5-6 curry leaves
1 tsp turmeric
1 tbsp cumin coriander powder
Method:
1) Dry roast one small onion until they turn dark brown
2) Dry roast red whole chilli , methi seeds and dhaniya seeds
3) Combine above with ginger garlic and crush in a blender to make a smooth paste.
4) Oil in pan, cumin seeds, asafoetida , rai seeds, curry leaves add onion and cook until golden brown
5) Add tomatoes cook until mushy.
6) Add salt , chilli powder and cumin coriander powder, turmeric, fresh coriander
Add paste. Mix well. Cook for 7 minutes.
7) Take a pressure cooker put this entire mixture along with soaked peas and let it cook for 4-5 whistles
8) Serve with pav, onion and bhusu/thick sev
